Free Web Content & Articles
I have mentioned before in Original vs Duplicated Content on why you should use oringinal content, or at the very least, content that is not reproduced everywhere else. The time spent to achieve this is much longer than grabbing free articles from directores. If you are willing to settle for duplicated content, then I shall share some places where you can get them.
Articles Directory
Articles Directories host articles contributed by many different authors. The authors wrote the articles and post them in the directories to share with others. By doing so, they allow others to reproduce their work on other websites. The catch is that the author box stating the origin of the article is to be kept and no work is to be modified.
Here are some of the best article directories:
You can find more of such websites by searching for 'free article' or 'free article directory' in Google. As mentioned before, using such work requires you to preserve the author box, which contain links to the author website. You are losing traffic to these websites in return for the free use of the articles.
Public Domains
Another source of free content is public domain works. Public domain means work that has no copyright (expired or the authors release it into the public domain). That means you can use them freely for your website and there is no need to link to the original owner.
Public domain works are hard to uncover though. You can try searching for public domain works in major search engines or you can try this Public Domain eBooks Search.
RSS Feed
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is basically a snippet of content from a host website that can be feeded to your own website. What does that mean? Any RSS Feed you place on your site will have content from another website appearing in your own for free.
You can get a RSS Feed coding from any website that has them and paste it into your own website. The content will then appear in your website, and best of all, the content is fresh and constantly updated. Most RSS Feeds have a little link back to the host website.
One thing to be careful of is to not use RSS Feeds that are generated in JavaScript. Read #6 of Top 10 Mistakes of Web Building if you don't know why.
Product Information
If you are selling products for an affiliate, you can use the product information for these products provided by the owners. They usually allow this since you are earning money for them, but do check to save yourself on future trouble.
I know most eBooks or softwares out there comes with their own sales page/squeeze page when you buy the resale rights, so using them should be no problem.
Copyright Issues
You should never copy work from others without their permission unless you are following any of the above methods I told you of. Even if the website does not have a copyright statement, it does not mean their work is not copyrighted. They are not required to do so anymore as any work released is copyrighted automatically by law.
